Rotate PNG Online Free

Turn a PNG to any angle, flip it, or straighten a tilted scan. The canvas grows to fit, so no corner is ever cut and transparency stays intact.

How to Rotate a PNG

Drop your PNG in, use the quick buttons or the angle slider, then download the turned image. Everything renders locally, so the file never leaves your device.

Step 1

Add Your PNG

Drop the file into the panel or browse your device for it.

Step 2

Turn or Flip

Tap 90, minus 90, or 180 degrees, drag the slider, or flip either way.

Step 3

Download PNG

Save the rotated result as a PNG that keeps transparency and full detail.

Rotate PNG Files at Any Angle Without Cropping or Losing Transparency

A sideways photo is the most common reason anyone looks for a PNG rotator. Phones record which way they were held as metadata, then hand the picture to a browser, a mail client, or a content system that quietly ignores the note, so an upright photo lands on its side everywhere else. Scanners do their own version of it, feeding pages through at a slight angle that leaves every line of text crooked. Design work has a third version: a landscape screenshot has to become portrait for a phone mockup, or an asset has to be turned ninety degrees to fit a layout that was built the other way around. In all three cases you need the picture turned, not cropped, and not rebuilt.

This rotator keeps the whole picture at whatever angle you choose. Plenty of tools spin the image inside a fixed frame and quietly trim whatever falls outside it, which is survivable for snapshots and fatal for screenshots, diagrams, and sprites where the edges carry meaning. Here the canvas is first resized to the bounding box of the turned image, using the standard width times cosine plus height times sine calculation, so even a forty five degree tilt leaves every original pixel inside the frame. Ninety and two hundred seventy degrees simply swap the sides, while one hundred eighty leaves the dimensions exactly as they were.

Transparency is the reason most people rotate a PNG instead of converting to another format first. Export as PNG and the triangular corners left by a slanted angle stay see-through rather than turning into white wedges, so logo marks, cutouts, sprites, and overlay art drop straight back onto the background they were made for. Nothing is ever painted behind your pixels, because the canvas is cleared before drawing and the alpha channel travels through untouched. Switch the output to JPG and a background color picker appears, since that format has no transparency to keep. WEBP sits between the two, keeping alpha like PNG while accepting a quality setting like JPG.

Everything happens on your own machine. Rotation runs through the Canvas API inside the page, so the file is never uploaded, never queued on somebody else’s server, and never stored after the tab closes. That makes it safe for client artwork, unreleased screenshots, and scans carrying personal details. It also means results appear as you drag rather than after a round trip. The honest limits are worth knowing too: images longer than fourteen hundred pixels on either side are scaled down for processing, and only one picture is handled at a time, so a folder of twenty scans means twenty passes. For everything else there is nothing to install, sign up for, or pay.

Any Angle Free

Drag from zero to three hundred fifty nine degrees for a precise turn.

Quick Turns

Buttons step the image ninety degrees either way, or a half turn.

Nothing Cropped

The canvas resizes around the turned picture so every corner stays.

Alpha Preserved

Export PNG and slanted corners stay transparent instead of white.

Flip and Mirror

Mirror left to right or top to bottom, with any rotation angle.

Stays Private

Rotation runs in your browser, so your image never reaches a server.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

A right angle turn keeps every pixel, because the image is redrawn at its original dimensions instead of being resampled. Export as PNG and the result is lossless. Uneven angles still interpolate along the edges, as any canvas drawing does.

No. The canvas is resized to the bounding box of the turned picture before drawing, so every original pixel stays inside the frame even at forty five degrees. Tools that rotate inside a fixed frame are the ones that trim edges away.

Yes, when you export as PNG. Empty areas are cleared rather than painted, so the slanted triangles around a turned logo stay see-through. JPG has no alpha channel, so it fills those areas with the background color you pick instead.

Use the ninety degree button to step clockwise, the counter clockwise button to step back, or drag the slider to exactly ninety. The width and height swap places, and the picture is ready to download as a PNG straight away.

Yes. Drag the slider a degree at a time until the text lines sit flat, then download. Small angles leave thin transparent wedges at the edges, so export as PNG to keep them clean, or pick JPG with a white background instead.

No. Rotation happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, so the file never travels to a server and no copy is kept once the tab closes. Client artwork and private scans stay on your own device throughout the process.

Very large images are scaled down for processing, because drawing them at full size would stall the browser, and the Max Width field lets you cap output further. Set it to zero to keep the processed resolution exactly as it comes out.

Yes. The horizontal button mirrors the picture left to right, the vertical one flips it top to bottom, and both can be combined with any rotation. Reset clears the angle and both flips together in a single click.
